Plain terms for a free tool. Using this site means you accept them.

What this is

ihatejob is a CV builder and CV checker that runs in your browser. It is free, there is no account, there is no paid tier, and every feature is available to everyone. The source code is published under the MIT licence.

What the rating is, and what it is not

The score out of 100, the six grades and the comparison against a job advert are opinions produced by rules written into this site. They are a second reading of your own document, not a professional assessment, not careers advice, and not a prediction.

Nothing here is a promise of an interview, a job, or that any employer or applicant tracking system will read your CV in a particular way. A perfect score is not a guarantee of anything, and a poor one is not a verdict on you.

Your CV is yours

You own what you write. We never receive it, so we never acquire any right in it. Nothing in these terms gives us a licence to anything you build here.

What happens to something you do send us

If you leave a review or share a journey and tick the box saying it may be published, you give us permission to publish it on this site, with the credit you typed, and to edit it for length and clarity without changing what you said. If you leave the box unticked, it is read and not published. You can ask us to take down anything of yours at any time.

Do not send anything you do not have the right to send, and do not put anyone else’s personal details in a form here.

Using the site

Please do not attack the site, attempt to break the rate limits, submit automated spam, or use it to produce a CV that misrepresents someone’s qualifications. The last one matters most: a tool that helps you describe real work is useful, and one that helps you invent it is not something we want to have built.

Availability

This is a free service offered as it is, with no promise that it will be available, correct, or permanent. The builder keeps working offline once loaded, which is the only availability guarantee that is really in our gift.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from using this site, including any consequence of acting on its ratings. Your CV lives in your own browser storage: keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose, because clearing your browser data deletes it and we have no backup of it.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

The source code

The code is MIT licensed and public. You may read it, run it, fork it and check that this page is telling the truth. The MIT licence covers the code; it does not cover the name or the content.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of TO BE SET have jurisdiction. If you use the site from somewhere else, you may also have rights under your own local law that these terms cannot remove.

Changes

If these change, the date below changes with them, and the change is visible in the public commit history.
